Overtime and Wage Ordinace; St. Pete
The City of St. Petersburg recently approved an ordinace (wage theft)that will permit workers to file a complaint with the City if their employer has failed to pay them wages or a portion of wages with 14 days from when the services were performed. At least $60.00 must be owed by the employer to the employee.
The employee can file a complaint with the City, and then the employer will be served with the complaint. The employer can pay the employee or participate in a conciliation meeting. If the dispute cannot be resolved, then there will be a hearing. This ordinance compliments other federal and state laws relating to wages, and employee and employer disputes.
